It's Northwestern U !!

Our incredible, exciting news is that Ashley Taylor Boncimino was accepted on December 12, 2007, into one of the most selective private universities in the world: Northwestern University, located in Evanston, Illinois!

According to U.S. News & World Report, Northwestern is presently ranked #14 in the national universities category, which places it a keen 3 places ABOVE my alma mater, Rice University. 83% of Northwestern's students were in their high school's Top 10%. In plain terms, we are just so proud of Ash, and this is going to be one of the most fantastic and unique challenges for her in her aspiring life.

Ashley was accepted into the Medill School of Journalism, where notable alumni in both print and broadcast media have received their start: Mike Adamle (Chicago WBBM sports anchor), Rance Crain (Crain Communications), Saul Bellow (Pulitzer Prize-winning author), Joie Chen (CBS News), Michael Wilbon (ESPN host). Ashley is excited to be part of Medill, and will begin her freshman semester in September 2008. Yay!!!

We celebrated tonight after I returned from my latest business trip, by hitting the Hard Rock Cafe of KL. We dined on fajitas, apple cobbler, and fruity drinks. We celebrated our Ash, who is bursting with excitement for what her future holds. As a parent, I have to be honest -- I am thrilled. Even if Ash were going to a local community college, I'd be thrilled as well. She has worked hard, and to be going to a top 20 school is amazing! Hooray for Ashley, our own Wildcat.
